'In the heart of Wicklow near the Sally Gap lies a pretty lake called Lough Dan that has a lovely sense of tranquillity about it, especially on a windless evening. Luckily do not get to experience the midges that were engulfing the lens and penetrating my skin with frequent success. The image was made using a film camera, and in those days I was only shooting in a black and white film and producing the prints in a darkroom'.. Patrick

'This was the first landscape picture I went out to make. It was quite a lovely morning and I set out early with my Minolta film camera. Inspired by a trip to the local library where I viewed the work of Ansel Adams. I rose early and made my way to this lovely lake in Wicklow for first light.
